What is Trauma Informed Education? How can families and schools partner to support students who have experienced trauma? How do we encourage a culture of safety? How do we shift to understand behavior as communication, instead of behavior as a problem? Expert Sherryl Weston and Demetrius Ball, Assistant Principal at Dougherty Valley High School, invite our community to join a conversation about moving from trauma to transformation, through relationships.

The Parent Education Evening Speaker Series is held on the 3rd Wednesday evening of every month, September through April (except if noted otherwise),

7-9pm at Iron Horse Middle School MPR, 12601 Alcosta Blvd., San Ramon, CA, 94583.

Many of our speakers address topics that are of interest and applicable to both families of children with special needs and families of children who may not be identified as having special needs.  All are welcome to attend.

The Special Needs Committee is dedicated to supporting children with special needs by organizing educational programs for parents and staff, providing ability awareness workshops and simulations to help all children and adults understand and appreciate challenges faced by children with special needs and communicating local events on special needs topics.

Each unit president is asked to appoint a Special Needs committee representative from his/her school to help support the outreach efforts and attend monthly meetings led by the Council Special Needs Chair.
